Do you need to file a 2030 return?

Sorry it's too,late to start a 2020 online return or use the mobile app, either on Turbo Tax or the IRS.

To do a prior year return you have to buy the Desktop program here,

You will need a full Windows or Mac to install it on.

If you have a simple return and want to file for free you can fill out the forms by hand.  Here are some basic forms.....

Don’t forget your state.  And you will have to print and mail your returns.  So be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them.  You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places.  Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.

Then when you file for 2021 you need to enter 0 for the 2020 AGI since you are filing late.

Info about your return

To access your 2020 return:

1. Sign in at TurboTax.com.
2. Go to Tax Home and scroll down and select Your tax returns & documents. Here, you'll see the years of taxes you've filed with TurboTax.
   • If you don't see any returns when you sign in, you might be using the wrong user ID. Check to see if you have another account.

IRS Transcripts and Copies

You can also get an actual copy of a prior year return or a transcript (just the numbers) from the IRS. Transcripts are free. You can get them online or by mail. Transcripts by mail take 5 to 10 calendar days. 

IRS copies cost $43.
