How do I view my old state filings from 2019 and 2020? I can download it but it won’t let me view it.

I can go and download them but it’s a .txt file and I’m not sure how to open that.

The tax data files can only be opened by the TurboTax software for the year of the data file.  Download the PDF of the tax returns so you can view the return with any compatible PDF viewer, such as Adobe Acrobat.

To access your current or prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)

I’ve seen that answer before but how do I access this software? It is not available from the TurboTax website since it is over 3 years old. Can you please provide me a link to somewhere I can purchase this?

TurboTax does not support tax years prior to 2021 so the software for 2019 and 2020 is no longer available through TurboTax.  Nor would you be able to use the TurboTax software obtained through other sources for those tax years since the license code for those years has also expired.

So just confirming what you’re saying is that TurboTax provides no way for me to access the filings I did with them that are three years or older? Also as of now, there is no possible way for me to ever access those again since all of those keys are expired. Is that correct?

Is there some reason why the PDF downloads are not acceptable?

Once I do the steps you listed to access my tax returns. I’m only able to download the .tax file. I do not see an option for downloading a PDF. And when I view the docs on my Intuit account, it is only my uploaded W-2s, but I need the full return. Please see photo.

Usually when the PDF download is not shown for a prior tax year it indicates that the tax return for that year was not completed or filed.

However, since the 2023 online editions have shut down it may also be that TurboTax has not updated prior year online information during the transition to the 2024 online editions which are due to be available in early December.

You will have to contact TurboTax support for assistance with this problem.

Another possible reason

In my test "Online" account, none my prior year PDFs are also not available, even though many (back to ~2017) were available as PDF files during 2023 when I was preparing/filing 2022 taxes....the issue for my situation appears to be that I did not register/pay for the 2023 Online software during 2024.   

i.e. TTX does not seem to keep the prior year PDF files available if you don't use them every successive year. 

I'll see if I can re-access those PDF files once the 2024 software starts up....IF I register my use in the same test account during this coming tax year.

SAVE your PDF files to your home computer, right away...every year....after your e-file has been accepted.  Don't ever assume they will be available to you at a later date.  And back them up to a USB flash drive promptly too.
