Why do you think you do not have to enter your spouse's SS? That is incorrect. ALL of your combined income goes on your joint return including Social Security. Do not remove it.
@raereneewatkins- When Social Security is your ONLY income you do not have to file a tax return. But if you are filing a joint tax return with other sorts of income on the return, then ALL income including Social Security has to be entered. Or....even if you file married filing separately----your spouse who only had SS would have to file a return and enter the SS---and pay tax on it.
Please clarify for us-----what other income was entered on your tax return? Is it a joint return?
