How do I print a copy of a previous year tax form (i.e. 2021) IF I have deleted the 2021 TurboTax Program?

The file is still on my computer and I have removed previous versions of the program. Now, I need to print the 1040, and can't seem to access the file without the program.

You didn't also save the pdf?  You only have the .tax2021 file?  You need the 2021 installed to open it.  How did you install it originally?  Do you have the CD or did you download it?  

If you do get the program reinstalled the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to FILE - NEW TAX RETURN)

Then go to FILE -Open and find your return.

They might be expensive and it is probably not safe to email tax returns back and forth.  They are not related to Turbo Tax.

It's always a good idea to make a backup copy of your tax data file, in case your original gets lost or corrupted. Here's how:

1. From the File menu in the upper-left corner of TurboTax, choose Save As (Windows) or Save (Mac).
2. Browse to where you want to save your backup.
   • Tip: If you're saving to a portable device, save it to your computer first to prevent data corruption. Then, after completing Step 4, copy or move the backup file to your device.
3. In the File name field, enter a name that will distinguish it from the original tax file (for example, add "Backup" or "Copy" to the file name)
4. Click Save and then close TurboTax.
5. Restart TurboTax and open the backup copy to make sure it's not corrupted. If you get an error, delete the backup and repeat these steps.

If you make changes to your original tax return file, repeat these steps to ensure your original and backup copies are in-synch.

your posting from online so do you mean you used the desktop app ? if so, here are your options

1) reinstall the 2021 app

2) request a copy of either trancript (free) using IRS form 4506-T - or copy of complete return ,$43, using IRS forn 4506. no state returns if you need those

3) send the .xxxxtax2021 to  a website that for a fee will print your return a common one is taxprinter.com
