TurboTax no longer provides software for tax year 2012. You would have to find a local paid preparer who still has the 2012 program on their computer or download the forms from the IRS web site and complete them by hand. Some volunteer sites may still be able to prepare 2012 returns.

To file a return for a prior tax year

Only a 2016 return can be prepared online and e-filed.

If you need to prepare a return for 2013, 2014 or 2015 you can purchase and download desktop software to do it, then print, sign, and mail the return(s)

I finally found it/them - all the forms for free, and without creating a login or account. This is a great source for old tax returns, either Federal or by the various states: https://www.taxformfinder.org/

For example, when I need a California form, say, a Form 568: https://www.taxformfinder.org/california/form-568 then on the * RIGHT * side of the window where the form is, click on the drop-down menu to access prior years. So great! No fees, easy fill in PDF on your PC. FINALLY!
