Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Hello everybody! I did my taxes on 02/01/2024 and I should’ve received them on 02/22/2024. Today is 03/06/2024 and I haven’t received my taxes, my boyfriend did, help!

TurboTax e-mailed me saying my taxes were accepted, but when I check “Where’s my refund?” It says they got my tax file, but didn’t accept it!
Why did TurboTax lie? And how much time do I have to wait for them to accept?

You are always going to find someone else whose refund arrived faster, and someone who waited even longer than you.  That is the way it goes. Returns are not processed “first in — first out.”

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

I think you are confused by the wording on the IRS site.  The IRS site does not use the word "accepted" on its site.   If you are seeing anything at all about your return on the IRS site, it has been accepted and is in some stage of being processed.  You are waiting for "approval."
