There is no maximum number of dependents that you can claim on a tax return.
Are you asking about just "claiming" them----or are you asking about refundable credits you can get or even non-refundable child-related credits?
There is a maximum of three children for the earned income credit. You can claim all of your children who qualify as dependents even if you have lots of children. You will not get earned income credit for more than three children, no matter how many more you have. And you can only get the childcare credit for two children---even if you have more than two in daycare. There is not a limit on the number of children for child tax credit.
