Havent recivied my full refund.

My husband and I filed together and I've been on the phone all day. We don't have any offsets with the IRS (no kids, bought our first house of this last month so it wouldnt be on our file yet), they also keep telling me to call back because theirs no agents available , Turbo tax pushes me to either wait for the IRS to answer one of my calls or wait for a letter. If they IRS had a problem with my taxes, why didn't an error come up on turbo taxes side? If the IRS is withholding taxes becuase the state of our economy, why are others getting there full refund? I'm missing 3,000 not just a couple hundred. I've received no email updates, Can someone please assets me better?

Side note, i received half of the refund and missing the 3,000.

On this public forum, we do not have detailed information about refund processing. 

 

First, have you checked the IRS' Where's My Refund website?  It may have information about a correction or an offset.  For more details on why your refund could be less than expected, please see this Help Article

This doesn't help. Please give me better information then the generic answer. This company has copied and pasted the same paragraph instead of trying to answer everyone's questions. I asked why the IRS doesnt communicate with turbo tax about taking money? AND why doesnt the IRS mention that they may be with holding taxs returns. This company is supposed to be helping us and be easier than going through the IRS forms.

Once a tax return has been Accepted by the IRS or a State, TurboTax receives no further information concerning the tax return or the status of any tax refund.  Due federal privacy laws TurboTax cannot legally receive any information from the IRS concerning the status of a taxpayer's tax return.

 

If the IRS changes your tax return it will be noted on the IRS federal tax refund website.  The IRS also mails a letter explaining the changes to the address on the tax return.  There is a procedure to dispute the IRS changes included in the letter.

Why is my refund different than the amount on the tax return I filed? 

All or part of your refund may have been used (offset) to pay off past-due federal tax, state income tax, state unemployment compensation debts, child support, spousal support, or other federal nontax debts, such as student loans. To find out if you may have an offset or if you have questions about an offset, contact the agency to which you owe the debt.

We also may have changed your refund amount because we made changes to your tax return. This may include corrections to any incorrect Recovery Rebate Credit amount. You’ll get a notice explaining the changesWhere’s My Refund? will reflect the reasons for the refund offset when it relates to a change in your tax return.

Havent recivied my full refund.

Thank you for the beginning part. Just one thing, when I put in all the information on 'wheres my refund?' It says it cannot provide any information and it said that before I received some of my return (I received it 31 days after filing). I've never had problems like this before and turbo tax is not giving actually helpful information. It's also impossible the reach the IRS. Should I just contact the Better Business Bureau to get more help?

We am having the exact same problem! Over $2000. I am extremely unhappy with the lack of customer service assistance. I have called multiple times and am no reduced to using a message board. We have used this service for years without problem but this a HUGE problem. Turbo Tax contact me please!

@od777 Have no idea whether contacting the BBB will help or not.

As for the IRS website, it has had glitches in the last two years.  If you are entering the exact information for your Social Security number, your Filing Status and the Whole dollar amount of the federal tax refund as reported on on your tax return the website should give you the information.

 

Only about 9% of callers actually get through to an IRS agent.  They have had major problems ever since the start of the this Covid-19 nonsense.  

You can try this procedure as some users reporting getting through although most did not -

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

IRS makes the adjustment and IRS sends the explanation letter.

 

As noted by the Taxpayer Advocate Report, the problem with IRS letters is they are confusing, and give only possible reasons for why your return could be adjusted, not the actual reason in your case.

 

"Where's my refund" also does not give specific information about your particular return.
