Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.

Yes, as Xmasbaby points out, you have to check with your state Department of Revenue to get the status of your state refund. Here's the direct link you can use to check on your Missouri refund.
