Georgia state taxes were e-filed with the payment due to be debited from savings account. The Turbo Tax summary sheet shows this would be done correctly however received letter from Georgia Department of Revenue that said my financial institution payment was returned as unpaid because there was no bank account number. I do not see any bank information on the forms submitted. How can this happen? Are automatic debits allowed in Georgia?

Yes, direct debit from a bank account on a Georgia state tax return is allowed when using tax preparation software.
You need to verify that the correct bank routing and account number for your savings account were entered correctly. Check with your bank for the correct information.
Review the Georgia Information Worksheet Part V. It should have the boxes checked for direct debit, savings account, date of payment and the bank routing and account numbers for that account entered.
If using the TurboTax desktop editions, click on Forms. When in Forms mode in the section for Georgia Individual on the left side of the screen, click on Info Worksheet to open.

Thank you for the quick and thorough reply. I did use the desktop version and checked the info worksheet in forms. All information is correct for the check boxes and banking information, in fact eft refunds for the federal and a different state return have both been received to the same account.
We will call the taxpayer services call center for the department of revenue per our letter received.
Thanks again!
And double check with your bank. Some banks use a different routing number for deposits and debits.
Good idea, would not have thought of that. Thank you!
