Did you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund?
REFUND PROCESSING FEE
If you chose to have your fees deducted from your federal refund, but entered wrong or closed bank account information for your direct deposit, you are going to have an aggravating, frustrating situation. Your refund will go back to the third party bank. The third party bank might issue and mail you a check, or they might send your refund back to the IRS and then you will have to wait for the IRS to mail you a check.
If the third party bank mails the check, it will come in a plain envelope via first class mail so make sure you open all mail and do not assume anything is junk mail without opening it. While you are waiting, make sure that the address you entered on your tax return is correct, or your problem will be even worse.
When you choose “refund processing” your refund goes FIRST from the IRS to to the third party bank. Then the bank takes your fees out of your refund and sends the rest of the refund to you.
Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.
You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com

I don't really understand this answer. It talks about if paying fees with refund and I think they were just saying put wrong info. I put correct routing numbers, but wanted it to go to savings, and accidentally said it was checking. So the IRS says it was deposited on March 20th, but it wasn't. I want to know what I am supposed to do. Is it just wait to see if I get a check in the mail? It seems impossible to get an answer or someone with whom to talk. The bank was useless.
I'm going to also submit this as another question.
TurboTax only assists with your tax return and not your tax refund. Once you complete the tax interview in TurboTax, your tax return is forwarded to the IRS for review. Your tax refund if due one is completely in the hands of the IRS.
Now if you chose to have your TurboTax fees taken out of your federal tax refund, there is a third party bank who processes these funds. Once those fees are taken out of your tax refund, the third party bank will forward the remaining balance to you.
If you entered the wrong bank account information, your tax refund may come as a check to the address you listed on your tax return. To eliminate fraud situations, everything on your tax return has to match your account exactly. I would contact your bank and see if your tax refund was kicked back from them and if it was, you will know that a check will be mailed to you. Since you are saying the IRS stated the refund was deposited on a certain date, I would also contact them to verify that information. Please see this TurboTax FAQ here for assistance.
Thanks for the response.
I have already checked with my Credit Union and they were useless, other than saying it would have bounced if I had checking marked, but saving routing number. Also had a contact to the IRS and found if this happens:
"The bank sends the money back to the IRS and they send a check in the mail to the address on file. This can take up to 5 weeks, sometimes it takes the bank up to 3 weeks to send the money back to the IRS."
Thank you for the update!
