I live with family(mother of my paternal neices & nephew) in a family home for a few years. She hasn't worked since 2020. Since the home is owned I pay for utilities, and my nieces & nephew childcare. I also buy whatever the kids need and provide transportation to and from school. I filed them on my taxes before for the year 2019 in 2020 without any issues. I even received the child tax credit for them in 2021. This year I filed my 2021 taxes. First, they were marked delayed. Topic 151. The state that took them apologized saying a glitch in the system didn't update my closed case & said the offset funds will be returned & mailed to me. So the 151 topic is no longer an issue.

My now problem is reference number 1242. That reference number says I have to show proof I'm on birth certificate or foster papers. I filed them as what they are which is nieces and nephew. I'm not on any papers other than school records & pediatric visits. Can I change them to Qualifying Relative?
