Change your return back to the way it was. You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox

Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.

If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and mail it in. You will need to use a form called a 1040X. You cannot e-file an amended return.  They have to be mailed, and it takes at least 2-4 months for the IRS to process an amended return.  Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed

Change your return back to the way it looked when you originally e-filed it.  If you end up needing to amend it, you have to be able to work with it as it went to the IRS originally.  Those changes you made after e-filing went nowhere, and they will mess you up if you try to amend.

If you do not restore it to the way it was, your amended return will be a train wreck.

The IRS is not going to see anything you tried to change when your return was pending.  Those changes did not get transmitted to the IRS.  But you have made those changes in the software now, and they are going to mess you up when you need to amend.  You have to prepare your amended return--a 1040X--from the return EXACTLY the way it looked to the IRS.

Understandable when it comes to the amending part, but if I keep it like the change I did will it affect my refund that accepted??

Again--the IRS is not going to see those changes. No, it will not affect the refund you get based on that first W-2. The IRS got what you sent when you e-filed it.  The IRS does not see anything that you changed on it after you e-filed it. Your changes went nowhere--except on the software.
