We received a k1 with multiple states. Filed fed return with 3 states and received refunds. Later filed 3 additional states and states say they didn't receive est taxes

Are the states pulling the state information from the Fed refund filed?  And if so, do we need to amend our Fed return to include the state taxes paid.  Where does that go on the fed return?

did you file a state return for the states or just your federal return (that would be a problem)?  for the k-1 entity you should have received a federal k-1 and a state k-1 or equivalent for each of the states that has an income tax.   on each state k-1 there should be an indication of any income taxes withheld for that state.  Assuming there is no indication that the entity filed a composite return for a state,  then you might be required to file (some states have income thresholds so that if your state income is below that you would  not be required to file.   However, if you are due a refund for that state, you would need to file).  Note that some states require you to attach the state k-1 to the return in order to claim any credit for taxes withheld.     If your resident state has an personal income tax, generally you can get a credit for the taxes paid to the non-resident states.
