Hello,
I recently filed my taxes myself for the first time and claimed myself as a dependent. However, my parents have never and probably will not file their taxes this year and claim me on it. This is a problem because I am concerned that I'll be missing out on the third stimulus check, despite qualifying for the past two. My e-file was both accepted by the IRS and state and I'd already paid what I owed.
Will it be possible for me to amend my file from dependent to independent to become eligible for the third stimulus check? or is there another way I could receive it?
Thanks.

If you qualify to be a dependent, then you are not eligible for stimulus payments. It doesn't matter whether your parents choose to claim you or not. But why aren't they filing a tax return?
Did you get the first 2 stimulus payments in advance ? Or on the recently filed 2020 return form 1040 line 30?
I got them when they were released so I am assuming in advance.
