Converting pdf to tax file

I have used the desktop version of TT for years.  I only have a pdf of last years return and TT cannot import it for some reason.    Is there a way to convert it to the tax version?  I really don't want to reenter all my information  Thank you

Converting pdf to tax file

You cannot transfer prior-year information from a PDF created by TurboTax, and there is no way to convert a PDF to a .tax2023 data file. If you did not save your .tax2023 file, and you do not have a backup copy, the only thing you can do is start your 2024 tax return from scratch, without transferring information from 2023.

If you still have the 2023 desktop software installed, and you have the .tax2022 file for your 2022 tax return, it might be easier to redo your 2023 return, starting by transferring from the .tax2022 file. Then you would have a new .tax2023 file that you could use to start your 2024 tax return. This is a little convoluted, but it might save you a lot of retyping.
