Can I pause after having started this? I need to go somewhere and shouldn't have started it just yet.

Yes. You can click My Account in the top right and choose Save & Sign Out from there. When you log back in, it will ask if you want to pickup where you left off.https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3301211
