Can I check the status of payment for my federal taxes? I though I set up auto withdrawal for 4/15 but it still hasn't cleared my account.

In a normal season the IRS will debit your account on the date you specified or soon after.  We have had several reports of the IRS not debiting accounts on the scheduled date. Just be patient -- the IRS will take your money!

If the payment has still not been withdrawn and you are within a few days of May 17, go to IRS Paying Your Taxes for options or see 2020 Form 1040 Instructions, page 62. Payment options include: 

• mailing in a payment using Form 1040-V Payment Voucher, or

• by using either Direct Pay or
• by using the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS).
