Add them in your federal return and the information will flow to the state return.
The Itemized Deductions did Not transfer to the State return and all it would do is give me was the Standard Deduction.
When testing this I received the itemized deductions on the Kentucky (KY) return (image below). If you already paid for your state return do not delete it, however if not, you can delete it and then add it back to start over.
NOTE: It may be important for you to know the following information about your Kentucky (KY) return that was recently announced.
Also you can review your federal and state return using the steps below.
From the left rail menu in TurboTax Online, select Tax Tools (You may have to scroll down on the left rail menu.)
For TurboTax Desktop, change to 'Forms' and review the forms
I have all of my itemized deductions added to the Federal return but they did not transfer to my State return. Thanks for the suggestion!
I am using the Turbo Tax downloaded version. I do not have any of those drop down menus on this version but thanks for trying!
The itemized deductions that you are reporting may not be allowed on the Kentucky income tax return.
Kentucky does not accept all the itemized deductions that are reported on the IRS Schedule A Itemized Deductions.
In addition, itemized deductions must first exceed $3,160, the Kentucky standard deduction.
In TurboTax Premier Desktop, I am able to report charitable contributions on both the Federal 1040 and the Kentucky resident 740 tax returns.
