if you are operating a business the answer is yes.
Yes, eBay fees are deductible. You could consider calling them "selling expenses" rather than commissions, but if you had a taxable sale then you can deduct them to offset the income tax being generated.
If you have a business, include the expenses in Schedule C.
If you sold personal items, like concert tickets, after you first report the 1099-K, secondly, you will need to report the details of the sale. In the investment and savings interview, enter the details of the eBay sales. Continue until you reach the "Let us know if any of these situations apply to this sale" and then enter the fees. Note, if these were personal items sold at a loss, you should indicate this in the original Income from 1099-K interview because that is not taxable.
Thank you for the detail but I'm not able to see that option. I've tried walking through the income and expenses but do not get that specific question. Are you able to help me get to it?
FYI, I'm using the online version if that makes a difference.
You may access the screen I paid sales expenses that aren't included in the sale proceeds reported on the form in TurboTax Online by following these steps:
@JamesG1 ,
I follow the steps to here:
When I click Start/Revisit, it asks if I have any investment income and not about my Self Employment income and expenses (1099-K).
Am I only able to enter the selling expenses under Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B)?
In TurboTax Online, do you see an item to Review such as here?
As you Review your sale, you will add information about selling expenses, sales date and cost basis.
