Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

Annoyed.

After filing my taxes and receiving the confirmation that the IRS accepted, I assumed I could track it. It has been 21 days, and I see nothing pending in my bank account. I go to check the IRS website, it says they can't find anything. I called TurboTax, amazingly, they can't find anything either. What in the **bleep** is going on?

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  “21 days”  is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

OR——if you filed by mail, expect a long wait.   It is taking the very backlogged IRS six to nine months to process mailed returns.   Until a human opens your envelope and enters the data into the system, nothing will even show up on the refund site, so you will have to be very patient.

If you are getting earned income credit on line 27 or additional child tax credit on line 28 You are subject to the delay required by the PATH act.  Do not expect your refund earlier than late February.

It did, it said the 17th, it is now the 20th.

@MarshmallowBlood Does the IRS site say the refund was issued already?  If so,

The IRS tells you to allow 1-5 days for the refund to post to your account.  Have you done that?

That's the thing. Every time I put in the information on the IRS website, it says that nothing is found even though I got an email saying that they accepted my return on the 28th!

There are certain items that might be causing the delay with the IRS.  If you have Child Care Credit, Child Tax Credit or Earned Income Credit, your return may be on delayed processing.  IRS is taking extra steps this year in processing those types of credits.  It seems the returns with those types of credits will start to receive refunds by the end of February.

TurboTax does not process returns for refunds.  Only the IRS can assist you at this point.  Privacy Laws prevent the sharing of client information.  All inquiries about your refund should be made to the IRS because your return has been accepted.  Thank you for using TurboTax.
