Amending for 1099-INT or 1099-DIV

I  received as  1099-INT after filing.  How  do I amend?  I followed the TT instructions. There is a list of possible items that require amending but  it doesn't include 1099-DIV or 1099-INT.

Amending for 1099-INT or 1099-DIV

If your return is accepted, you'll need to amend your return to add the missing form 1099-INT or 1099-DIV.

To amend your return, please follow the instructions in this TurboTax Help topic.

In the amendment process, you can add your form 1099-INT:

  • Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages & Income on top of the screen
  • Scroll down to All Income, locate the section Interest and Dividends and click on Show more
  • Click Start next to Interest on 1099-INT.

For form 1099-DIV:

  • Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages & Income on top of the screen
  • Scroll down to All Income, locate the section Interest and Dividends and click on Show more
  • Click Start next to Dividends on 1099-DIV.

This is called a miscalculation.

IRS may correct your return by adding those items in for you.

Wait until your return is processed.

Meanwhile pay any tax due on those documents by July 15th, if you did owe or your refund won't cover it.
