Amended

Already filed for 2019 and my son received another W2, apparently the company he works for changed names during the year. I went thru the steps of amending, signed up(email) for the Amended return which said would be ready by Feb 12. After adding this additional W2, Do I go ahead now and resubmit his return or wait ?

You cannot E-file an Amended tax return.

Wait until the end of the month of Feb, in case something else "shows up" that has to be included...then you have to print it out, (he has to sign/date.)..etc, and take it to the Post office and mail in the amended paperwork.  Amended tax returns can take 1-3 months to be processed, since they are manually entered.

But...Like I've already said above...the 2019 amendment software won't be available until around the end of the month.

The 2019 Amend instructions should be available by then...then you will have to start the "special" amend process, insert the missed 1099-R (and anything else you missed)  print out the amendment forms, and mail them in yourself at the Post office...with a check if you owe more.
