Amended return accepted but no check.

I filed with TurboTax in Feb 2021, Amended my return via TurboTax and sent it in the mail which was received June 2021. The amended return was completed according to the Where’s my Ammended Return tool as of January 7th, I got a notice dated December 21st saying I’d get my return in two to three weeks. I’ve been calling the entire time since July. It’s now March 2022 and still nothing in sight. I called the IRS tax advocate service and they told me that I needed to contact the regular IRS line and there is nothing they can do for me. They have said repeatedly the refund is not being held or stopped for anything. I can’t get through to anyone in the IRS, have called every day all day long. Due to covid, my job shut down and I couldn’t pay rent but the IRS kept saying they would send my check in 2-3 weeks. It’s been almost a year now and I’m at wits end. I filed this years taxes and it’s supposed to be around $7,000 like the last return I never received and it doesn’t even show on the irs website and I filed March 3rd. It tells me to give it 24 hours, which it has been. Honestly I’m only 22 with two kids but claimed one and I’m at a complete loss. Any help is appreciated.

What does Where's My Amended Tax Return say now and what did the IRS tell you the last time you spoke with them?     Here are all the IRS contact numbers.

It says My return was Completed January 7th and to look for a notice. The IRS said they don’t know how to release it because it shows completed and they hung up on me 3 times, 3 different people, 3 different days.

I looked at the article and it says it can take up to 120 days and to call the IRS. I can’t get through to the IRS and it’s been over 270 days.

The IRS is experiencing an extreme backlog of returns from last year.

The only team who can provide an update on the amended refund is the IRS. It is best to call as early as you can, as the wait can be less. In order to contact the IRS, please follow the instructions here

I called from open to close for the past two weeks since I lost my job and still can’t get through. IRS TAS didn’t help either.. 😕

Below are some tips as it relates to being able to get through to an IRS representative:

After choosing your language,  do NOT choose Option 1 after (refund info) instead choose option 2 for (personal income tax) instead. From there follow the steps below.

  • press 1 for form, tax history, or payment.
  • press 3 for all other questions
  • press 2 for all other questions

When you are asked  to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, do not enter anything. You will get to another menu once it asks you for it again. You will then press 2 for personal or individual tax questions and should be transferred to an agent after that.
