Amended my tax return for $557. Only received $99. Why?

No one here would know.  We cannot see your return or access your account.  You can contact the IRS and ask why they changed the refund.  They usually send a letter of explanation a few weeks after the refund check is issued if they changed something.

Did you get the refund from the original tax return or pay the tax due?  Are all the amounts right on the 1040X Amended return?

Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 22 should be your additional refund.  If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16.  If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.
