I filed about 3 weeks ago. I received a later from my state stating that my AGI needed to be verified. I checked my 1040 forms and it states that my AGI is more than the wages on entered from my W-2. I went into turbo tax federal to verify I entered the correct wages and I did. Is it normal for my AGI to be more than my reported income on W-2.

No, your AGI should not be more than the income you reported. Sometimes it may be less than the income you reported if you were entitled to receive any deductions.

Perhaps you are looking at a form for the previous year. To review your 2019 AGI, please see these steps:

  1. Click on Tax Tools from the menu on the left-hand side and then click Print Center
  2. Click on Print, save or preview this year's returns.

  3. Scroll down to your Form 1040 and look at line 8b

To find your 2018 Adjusted Gross Income (AGI):

  • Look at line 7 on page 2 of your 2018 Form 1040
  • Requesting a transcript of your 2018 tax return from the IRS. You can request your transcript online at the following link: Get Transcript

Please see this TurboTax Article for more information.

Thank you for your reply. I just verified & my AGI is wrong. I’m not sure why if I verified all information i entered is correct. I will have to amend ?

Maybe, it depends on what changes.  See this TurboTax FAQ for help with amending.

You can check the status of your amended return here, but allow 3 weeks after filing for it to show up.
