My federal return got rejected due to the AGI number it requested/required. I went to my last years return (using Turbo Tax) and inserted the number.
I got rejected even though that number I put in was 100% accurate. Now what??

so basically I have to print both Fed and State returns and mail in.
What about the Fed file? Since it was rejected, and now I am mailing in, does that cause and confusion or conflict for the IRS?
If you are entering the correct AGI and it's being rejected, you can follow the process outlined in this Turbo Tax help article.
What if I entered the correct AGI and I'm still getting an e-file reject?

I'm just curious. This may or may not apply to you. If it doesn't, then ignore it.
Did you have any unemployment income in 2020 and filed your 2020 return early in tax season before the late tax law (mid-March 2021) was passed (American Rescue Plan Act) about the "up to $10,200" exclusion of unemployment income? I believe the IRS adjusted those returns later.
I've seen a couple of users say that the IRS had adjusted the 2020 AGI on their books later in filing season due to the excluded unemployment income, so the IRS figure for 2020 AGI was the adjusted amount lower.
That's all anecdotal, however, so I don't know if it would help or not. I guess it's certainly something to try for folks in that predicament who did have an unemployment income exclusion after they filed their original return; i.e., lowering the AGI by the amount of exclusion they qualified for.
If nothing else works, have you tried efiling by using a 2020 AGI of 0 (zero)?
If someone filed the 2020 return real late in the year such as November 2021 or later, or if the IRS had not finished processing the return prior to November 2021, an AGI of 0 (zero) might be necessary for efiling.
Even if that's not the case, as a last resort sometimes it works unexpectedly. I would certainly try it before giving up.
