2025 tax return ,missing w-2

I filed my taxes on 02/08/2025 and I was notified on Monday 02/10/2025 that I have a w-2 on the way from a job I worked at for 6 weeks. Would I need to wait for the filed tax return to reject for me to ammend the w-2 ? Would the IRS approve it and send me my refund then ask me to ammend the w-2? How would this work? I am very nervous this has never happened to me before?

Has your return been Accepted yet?  When you efile you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile.  And check your spam folder for them.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.  What does it say?

If your return was rejected you can fix it and add the W2 and resend it.  If your return was Accepted you have to wait until it is done processing and you get the first refund or pay the tax due.   Then you can amend it.   The amended return won’t be ready until late February.
