I filed my taxes last year with Turbotax. I received notification that everything was ok and my state tax refund came immediately. I still have not received my federal tax check. I have tried every number and web site that I can find and they all ask the same thing questions, name, last 4 digits of social security and the amount of the refund. I would like to speak to a person. What can I do?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
I tried these numbers and was told by the "robot" that agents no longer answer the phone and to go to the website for information!

@jy0320 - and what happened when you went to the website. did you check your transcript?
the agents are not going to know anything more that what is on the website.
if you efiled, did you receive an 'accept'? that simply means the IRS acknowledged receipt o the tax return, it does not mean they reviewed or approved the tax return. What kind of notification did you receive that everything was "okay'?
the IRS states on their website that they have completed processing of all tax returns received through March that were error free, so either yours' has an error or was received after March.
your best course of action is checking the IRS website.

Thank you for the information. Yes, I did get an "accept" on the Turbo Tax site. I also filed a 1040 on 4/10/22. I received a letter from the IRS sometime in June, stating that it could take another 6 weeks to process. It also stated that after the time, I should contact them if it was not processed. I waited 8 weeks and still nothing! The I signed in everyday for 3 months, with still no answer.
@jy0320 - did you look at your transcipt? any transaction dates or codes after the date you submitted. those are clues.
The good news is the IRS has your return.
The bad news of course is they have compelted processing. That means there has to be an error of some sort. Normally, efiled returns with no errors get processed in just a few weeks.
There are about 2 million returns sitting with the IRS with some sort of error - that is reported weekly on the IRS.gov website.
that transcript is going to be your best source of information.
