My 19 yr old son shows nondependent on my taxes can I file him as his own dependent when I file his taxes or do I have to remove him from mine 1st.

I am working on my taxes then I am going to work on my adult sons. He is 19 and lives at home still. Not a student. Shows as a nondependent on my taxes as I am filling them out. Can I file him as his own dependent when I file his taxes, or do I have to remove him from mine entirely?

You should remove him from your taxes if you can't claim him as a dependent. There's no reason for his information to be associated with your return if you aren't claiming him, and removing him will prevent any errors.

You should remove him from your taxes if you can't claim him as a dependent. There's no reason for his information to be associated with your return if you aren't claiming him, and removing him will prevent any errors.
