You gave me a schedule of payment for my Michigan Tax. I paid three and the 4th is set for 1/17/17. but I got a late charge bill. your schedule was wrong. Now I owe more.

Your schedule was wrong and now I have an extra penalty and fee to pay. I followed your schedule.

Ohhhhhhh...I'm really sorry to hear that.

You really misunderstand what those 4 payments are for....Those 4 payments were there as estimated PRE-PAYMENTS for your "2016" state taxes.  (note that the forms are likely labeled as 2016 MI-1040ES which indicates they are for your next tax return, not 2015)

They have nothing to do with the Balance Due you owed for your 2015 tax return that you filed earlier this year.  Your balance due payment had to be made to Michigan either as a check thru the mail (One payment with a single voucher labeled a 2015 MI-1040-V) or on the MI tax website.

Sorry to say, but you probably need to pay MI whatever $$ they billed you for.

Good news is you have paid in estimates for the 2016 tax year so you should not have the same problem this year.   Bad news is they will not switch the payments to the 2015 tax year balance due.
