I pd to have my federal and state pd together but I'm missing 500+. Can someone tell me why?

You cannot pay for that function since it doesn't exist ... you must have miss read the screen since the feds and state are processed by completely different taxing authorities and do not come at the same time.  Check your state to see where you are in the process ... 

For your federal refund, you can check the status at  https://www.irs.gov/refunds

For your state refund, you can check your state government's refund lookup service for the latest on your state refund status. Go to this link state government's refund lookup service and select your state to be taken to their refund status lookup page.
