You are correct. Since you are not a Fayette county resident, you are not subject to this school tax (but continue to be subject to the occupational tax for all who work in Fayette County. To get these taxes back, you will have to go through your employer, who files a return with the state to reimburse these taxes. This form is not supported in TurboTax, but is available with the following link: http://www.fcps.net/media/2229741/recon-worksheet_2016_web.pdf. You will want to provide your employer proof that you are not a Fayette county resident, as box 2 on the form states, and they should do this work for you. They should also stop withholding this portion of the tax (0.5% of your income) going forward as long as you are not a Fayette county resident.
