Do I file the schedule C (self employed) for my spouse when I am filling our personal Married Filing Jointly taxes, or do they file on their own in addition?

Yes. If your spouse runs the Self-Employed business and you are Married Filing Jointly, you'll be able to note that in TurboTax on your Married Filing Jointly return. You can use Turbo Tax Self Employed online or Turbo Tax Home and Business desktop to complete your tax return.

Your spouse's self-employed income and expenses will be entered in the Business section of this program and any W-2 income your family has will be entered in the Personal section of the program. Make sure you select that this is for your spouse in the Business Info Section.

By the way, the fact that your spouse is self-employed does not mean MFS is a better option. Many tax benefits are not available if using MFS.
