Standard deduction for a single person is $12,200. Not $13,850.
I thought it might be due to a complex return. But I created a very basic test return, and there it was again.

Not sure which $$ one you were complaining it "should" be.
If you reached at least age 65 (or are blind) in 2019, then the 13850 is right, not 12200.
If you didn't reach age 65 in 2019, then re-check your birthdate you entered.

Oopsie. It was right.
I sure wish I could trust the software.
@Anonymous
IF you find what you think are bugs...then report them. There will be quite a few this early on and most of us helpers/SuperUsers don't have the software yet to test things out yet. There will be tons of significant bug corrections issued before the filing process can start...just make sure you check for software updates every Friday (updates usually come out Wed or Thurs evenings).
The IRS still has a lot of forms in DRAFT form, and the TTX software hasn't implemented all of them yet either until they are released by the IRS, and then confirmed in the software. But yeah, this early on, some folks will get frustrated with all the bugs...sometimes it's better to just not bother starting before mid-January.
For checking the next year's situation ahead of time, sometimes it is better to use the prior year's (2018 in this case) desktop software, and utilize it's "What-If" worksheet where you check it's 2019 taxes box.....that won't be exact, but it should be close (don't know if they use the proper 2019 std ded in the 2018 What-If...but should be close enough)
ATTN: ERROR REQUIRES FIX - Standard Deduction Worksheet.
"Standard Deduction Worksheet" is confusing and not in compliance with IRS Form 1040 instructions.
The intro Line “Use this worksheet …” has wording out of order plus does not include all taxpayer categories.
This worksheet is not allowing nor auto filling Line 3a nor 3b (if born before 1955) nor computing the result on Line 3c.
Very confusing, since the correct “Standard Deduction” is computed and auto loaded onto 1040 Line 9 with the additives $1300 (x2 Married Jointly) or $1650 (Single).
Same error existed in your 2018 Turbo Tax.
Please correct.

The worksheet you are referring to is only if you are a Dependent.
The worksheet is titled Standard Deduction Worksheet for Dependents
I see no errors on this worksheet as presented -
