I entered the correct amount of federal tax withheld on the actual form but the 1099-R summary shows a different and incorrect number.  Is this a known error?

I suggest you check your actual tax return

    From the left sidebar

    1. Select Tax tools
    2. Hint: You may have to minimize the Federal and State selections
    3. Click Tools
    4. A Menu will pop up
    5. Select View tax summary
    6. On the left panel click Preview my 1040
    7. 1099 withholding is in second page line 25b

    Some Key numbers to compare:

    • 11 Adjusted Gross Income
    • 12 Deductions
    • 15 Taxable income
    • 16 Tax
    • 33 Total Payments
    • 34 Overpayment
    • 35a Refund
    • 37 Amount you owe

I don't see Tax Tools, but we  have five 1099 forms, and when I look at the actual number on the 1040, line 25b & d, it is the true sum of federal tax withheld from the five 1099 forms.  Each 1099 form shows the correct amount withheld, but the 1099R Summary shows a different amount.

I'd like to edit my response, but the edit button is not working.  We have three 1099-R forms and  two regular 1099s.  It is only for my spouse that the incorrect amount of total federal tax withheld is found in the 1099-R summary.  (line 37 on form, Box 4 on 1099-R). Those should definitely match I would think.
