I understand that Turbo Tax (TT) 2025 will not run on Windows 10. My Question is since Turbo Tax now requires that everyone get Window 11 --- will TT 2025 still be able to translate data from a 2024 return that was completed on Windows 10 ?
Also, when doing my current year Taxes I typically open up previous year versions of Turbo Tax --- I am assuming that capability will no longer be supported which is NOT GOOD. HOPEFULLY, the software developers will work some Magic so that older versions of Turbo Tax can be opened on Windows 11.
I am hoping that a Turbo Tax (Intuit) customer service representative will respond to this question --- so we all get the correct information.
Thank you.

Yes to everything. You still will be able to transfer the .tax2024 file into 2025 usual. And you should be able to install and run the prior year programs too. I recently upgraded my computer to Windows 11 from 10 and my prior year programs open. Everything should be the same except you need Windows 11 to run Turbo Tax 2025. We went though the same situations in the past like going from Windows 8 to Windows 10.
Will you be upgrading your Windows 10 to 11 or getting a new computer?
Well I am hoping I can just upgrade my computer to the new Windows --- that will be something i ask geek Squad about. My computer works fine -- so I hate to have to buy a new one ---- but I also know the game and realize that I may have too.
Thanks for your answers --- are you 100% sure that being able to open prior year versions of TT will still be possible with Windows 11 ? If so that is a big relief --- thanks
Yes I just tried opening 2022 and 2023. They opened fine.
Though, please be aware, there is a limitation as to how far back the years of TTX desktop you could install on a new W11 computer. Right now, you can only install back to/including the 2021 TTX software. Years before (2020, 2019) installations won't be allowed because the license code won't be allowed even if you have it.
2018 and earlier didn't have a license code, but you would need to already have the fully updated installation files to install the federal, and the state software as a separate fully-updated installation files.. The initial installation files for 2018 and earlier won't do, since they can't be updated
