Window for payment for state filing is blank - can't proceed to filing

I attempted to file my Federal and State returns with Turbotax Deluxe Desktop Windows on Jan. 23. My payment for the state return wouldn't go through, so I ended up only filing Federal. My Federal return was accepted. (Federal return was for a refund, which was for direct deposit. Minnesota state return was for owing payment, for which I requested to pay electronically via ACH.)

Since then, I've tried repeatedly and have still not been able to file the state return because the payment window won't appear.

Specifically, here's what occurs:

1. Starting at the "You're almost ready to file" step, which shows the cost of the state return (with a club store credit subtracted), I click Continue.

2. A box "We'll save your return..." in which I click OK.

3. Next a blank window, which should be the payment window, appears so I can't take any action.

4. Exiting that window takes me to a page "Your payment didn't go through". If I click Continue in this window it takes me back to Step 2 above.

5. Perhaps 1 out of 20+ times, that normally blank window comes up with some text to complete the payment step by clicking Continue. However neither the Continue button or two other help links on that page are live. (i.e. hovering does not show that it is actionable, and trying to click does not work)

Every time I load Turbotax I check for updates, so it's not that I have a non-updated application. My Windows udpates are fully up-to-date as well.

So, I can't reach the point of state filing because I can't make a payment to Turbotax.

I spent three hours on two support calls and got nowhere. I suppose this means I'll have to file the state return on paper.

Window for payment for state filing is blank - can't proceed to filing

Same exact problem for me.  Using Turbotax Premier with Windows 10 (all software up to date).   Payment popup window is blank and can't pay to file state taxes in California.    The cynic in me thinks that it will be fixed on the same day that Quicken raises prices for filing state taxes.

Window for payment for state filing is blank - can't proceed to filing

My post was for last year (filing for 2022). This year's filing went without a glitch.

What I finally determined last year was that Turbotax had some problem with my two-monitor setup. I recall that when I booted up with only one monitor, I was able to complete my state filing OK. Strange ... but that was my issue and resolution last year.

See this thread for another discussion of the issue where the state program payment screen wouldn't display properly, and recommended solutions.

In Windows 10, a user's fix for the "hung" pop-up window for payment of state e-file charges was to go to Settings for display resolution and make sure it is at 100%.  Many displays default to 125% or 150%.

Restart TurboTax after you change the display to 100%.  Then the "continue" button will work on the payment pop-up from the state e-file payment screen.  Clicking on that will generate a pop-up to log into your Intuit account and pay.

Window for payment for state filing is blank - can't proceed to filing

Ok...based on feedback above.   I'm running on a very new Lenovo Laptop attached to a very large 4k monitor.  I'm running split-screen with TurboTax on left half and varies tax documents on the right half.   My screen is set to increase fonts, etc to 150%.

Before I started playing around with settings or detaching monitor to see if it would work on laptop screen, I tried expanding the TurboTax window to make it full screen.  I did NOT restart Turbotax.  I just hit button to start payment process on the open file.  This worked and the payment screen pop-up displayed corrected, I paid the $20 to file state taxes, and lo and behold, a miracle happened and the taxes were successfully filed.

Seems like Turbotax display drivers don't conform to industry norms or something......

Thank you for the tip about maximizing the turbo tax window.  This was the only suggestion that worked.  Payment screen showed properly and was able to e-file the return.  Much appreciated!

Thank you!  I had the same problem with the blank pop-up screen and I do use an external monitor.  I maximized the Turbotax window as you suggested, and continued from there, but the popup screen was still blank.  Then I noticed a display in the lower right of the screen showing that I could increase my font size from 100% to 110% so I clicked on the 110%... and then the blank popup screen filled in and I was able to proceed.  I dunno what to think, but you definitely pointed me in the right direction.
