I purchased the 2021 Deluxe program from Best Buy as a digital download and installed it on my Windows 10 desktop. When I try to open the .turboxtax2020 tax file with the 2021 Turboxtax program, it always opens up 2020 Turboxtax instead and asks me for my activation code, which I no longer have because my computer hard drive crashed last summer and I lost my purchase email that had the activation code in it.
I haven't used physical CDs in a long time so I don't have the 2020 disk, that is no help there, and if I search in my Intuit account for the Turboxtax 2020 product that I purchased, it doesn't show any of the Turboxtax programs I've paid for over the years because I've never bought them directly from Intuit but always from retail stores like Walmart, Best Buy, etc. so I do not have 'Documents' available to me.
Why doesn't Intuit/Turbotax make people's products and tax forms available to them if they purchased the product from an authorized reseller?? This is leaving millions of us 'hanging' out there if the programs we purchased crashed or get corrupted and then we have no recourse to retrieve our tax records and instead have to try to get the from the IRS or state tax agencies where we live - I need the stupid AGI off my 2020 tax return but of course can't get it because my hard drive lost my .PDF copy and the 2021 program will not read the 2020 tax file I managed to find on an old backup hard drive - I thought I was in luck that I found the 2020 file but now am stuck because your 2021 program will not open it. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE - WHAT IS THE PROBLEM HERE?? WHY WON'T TURBOTAX 2021 OPEN/READ THE 2020 TAX FILE??
