Why is it making me upgrade to Delux? When in previous years it never had me do that?

Required if you are trying to itemize deductions or if you have educational expenses and may be eligible for some tax credits.  Tax situation change from 2018.

TurboTax Free Edition covers Simple tax situations such as:

If you have education credits, itemized deductions, 1099 income, etc you will need to upgrade.
