You can enter a 1099-NEC as 'Other Common Income'. It will not create a Schedule C for self employment income.
If you don't have any expenses just check that option when entering the information.
However, if you do have expenses it may be to your benefit to enter those in order to offset this income which may reduce your tax.
Please follow the instructions below to report other income.

A 1099NEC is for Self Employment income.
You can enter Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe or Premier but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Self Employed version. Or use any of the Desktop CD/Download programs.

Or There is also The Turbo Tax Free File program which is free for federal and state. And has more forms than the Federal Free Edition, like Schedules A, B, C , D, E, F, EIC, H, K-1, SE, etc.
To qualify for the Free File website you just need to meet one of these 3 things.
AGI $39,000 or less.
Active duty military with AGI of $72,000 or less
OR qualify for EIC (earned income credit.)
In order to use the Free File program, you have to start it at a special website. Try signing in at the top right.
Ray the expert is wrong! If you have to file a 1099-NEC form (mine was only for $800+), it doesn't matter what category you use (even common income), TurboTax will say you have to upgrade from the free tax service to the $39 upgraded service.
You have added on to a very very old thread. But the answer is still the same except they changed the online version names. Yes you have to upgrade from the Free Edition.
You can enter 1099NEC or Self Employment Income into Online Deluxe but if you have any expenses you will have to upgrade to the Premium or use any of the Desktop CD/Download programs. All the Desktop programs have the same forms, so you can buy a lower version. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.
