Q. Detroit should be automatically processed you are indicating?
A. Yes, usually. There are exceptions. Review the "Michigan Filing instructions" that TT will present you on the list of forms.
The city refund is included in your state refund amount. There is only federal and state on the refund meter.
If that is true Dawn, then why when I remove my nonresident city tax refund completely does my state total refund stay the same?
Q. Why don't I see my city tax refund at the top where the running total tax refund is for my state?
A. TurboTax decided not to provide that feature; probably because so few users prepare city tax returns, in TT.
Thank you for your reply- so when I submit my tax return, the city return will automatically go (since it allowed me to enter it all and gave me a refund number in the steps just not above) and get processed?

A. Probably not.
It depends on which city it is. Only a small handful are automatically e-filed with the state return. Most, must be printed and mailed. All Ohio and Michigan cities (except Detroit) must be printed and mailed.
Thank you for your help- my city is actually Detroit. So it should be automatically processed you are indicating? I will print off a copy in case of course too.
