Why can't I enter my state I'd to complete my filing?

What version did you get?  It's only included with TurboTax Deluxe and 'higher".

To add a state to your account, while in TurboTax,

1. While you are in your Tax Home,
2. Select State from the left hand side of your screen,
3. Follow the on screen prompts to add your state.
