Why am I being charged to use turbotax if I have chosen the free version and my taxes are simple??

I don't have an income so I do not understand why turbo tax is charging me.

Whether you are a returned or new customer, with TCJA and CARES Act, there are many new tax forms required to claim the same deductions, credits, or forms of income. Some of the situations have been transformed into TurboTax Deluxe and TurboTax Live Deluxe, instead of in Free Edition.  

There is another option for you.  It's called the Tax Freedom which is an IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax.  It is exclusively available online and has its own dedicated website at taxfreedom.com.  It isn't accessible from the "regular" TurboTax.com website and is not the same as the TurboTax Free Edition.  For 2020, if your Adjusted Gross Income AGI is $39,000 or less, you may qualify.
