If you need to file a tax return and can not do so by the deadline (today) then you should request an extension.
It does not matter if you receive a refund or not. That is not relevant.
You have several options to request an extension:
1) Use Turbotax to request extension
See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vu4agRok68.
2) Use IRS site to request extension
https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/extension-of-time-to-file-your-tax-return
3) Print the extension request form and mail it.
https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f4868.pdf
Due date is today. Postmark by today is okay.
If you owe money, estimate the amount and try to pay it with your request for extension.

To determine if you need to file:
Use the IRS conversation at https://www.irs.gov/help/ita/do-i-need-to-file-a-tax-return
Click the "Begin" button at the bottom of the page and enter your information.
The result will tell you if you need to file.
You can also refer to https://www.irs.gov/publications/p501#en_US_2021_publink[phone number removed]
In this link, it is addressed under "Who Must File."
**Say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in a post
More importantly, if you owe taxes you certainly should file for an extension.
This will extend the time you have to file your taxes until October 17th, 2022.
On the menu bar on the left that shows.
Also, you may have to do your state taxes: Do I need to file an extension for my personal state taxes?
Remember, an extension gives you more time to prepare your taxes, but it doesn't extend the time to pay your taxes. If you have an indication that you will owe taxes you should make the payment to avoid additional interest and penalties.
