Who can claim a child

I am a single mother. The father of my child left. We lived together for almost a year. He paid rent and utilities. I now pay for everything. Even our child for the last 2 months. Can I claim our child?

Who paid for what does not matter. If you lived with the child the longer part of 2016 then you can claim the child.
