Which IRS IP PIN to use?

A couple months ago I requested an IP PIN from the IRS; after completing the online form, it gave me the PIN, referring to it as my "2022 Identity Protection PIN." I've just finished my taxes with Turbotax, which asked me to enter PIN, and I entered that number.

Now I'm ready to e-file with TurboTax, and on the page where I sign my 2021 return, it shows my 2021 filing PIN: a different PIN than the one I mentioned above for 2022, however I now realize I had a PIN before, and it is showing the correct older PIN.

Is my 2022 PIN only for 2022 taxes, or should I use that for my 2021 return? Does that new PIN make the older PIN no longer valid? Not sure which PIN to use.

They are two different pin numbers for different purposes.  Please see the below TurboTax help article for an explanation.

Is my Self-Select PIN the same as my IP PIN?

Per the IRS website:
Important Information about IP PINs
An IP PIN is valid for one calendar year.
A new IP PIN is generated each year for your account.
Logging back into the Get an IP PIN tool, will display your current IP PIN.
An IP PIN must be used when filing any federal tax returns during the year including prior year returns.
FAQs about the Identity Protection Personal Identification Number (IP PIN)
Using an IP PIN to File
Enter the six-digit IP PIN when prompted by your tax software product or provide it to your trusted tax professional preparing your tax return. The IP PIN is used only on Forms 1040, 1040-PR and 1040-SS.

Correct IP PINs must be entered on electronic and paper tax returns to avoid rejections and delays. An incorrect or missing IP PIN will result in the rejection of your e-filed return or a delay of your paper return until it can be verified.

Don’t reveal your IP PIN to anyone. It should be known only to your tax professional and only when you are ready to sign and submit your return. The IRS will never ask for your IP PIN. Phone calls, emails or texts asking for your IP PIN are scams.
