Is Form 1-ES a state estimated tax payment? If you made state estimated tax payments, you need to enter them in TurboTax to get credit for the payments. State estimated payments made are entered on the Federal side of the interview, then the credit for the payments should flow to the state return. Here's how to get there in the desktop software:
- Federal Taxes tab (in Home and Business it is the PERSONAL tab.)
- Subtab Deductions & Credits.
- "I'll choose what I work on."
- Your 2021 Deductions & Credits summary page.
- Scroll down to topic Estimates and Other Taxes Paid.
- Find subtopic Estimates and click Start (or Update).
- On the next screen should be the heading Estimated Tax Payments.
- Choose the proper topic there for your state estimated tax payments and click Start (or Update.) Pay special attention to the type of payment and the year.
Before filing the state return, review the return to be sure your state estimated tax payments are showing up correctly on the return.
