I've been rejected 4 times regarding this form. Anyone have a previously Married filing jointly situation where both had a 8915 form in 2020...divorced 2021 so LY 2021 it had me file 2 form 8915-F forms w/my amt as the taxpayer and then it blanked out name on the 2nd form w/have my ex's # but still reporting it. I expected the same this year and it finally looked correct in the last submission that was rejected. I went ahead and deleted the forms and input my info again but now it only lets me put it in once so now it's not allowing me to report my ex's. I don't think that's right as I'd think it should look like last year's return w/both being reporting on my return. Waiting to see if lucky number 5. I've tried a few different ways...combining the amounts...etc and nothing is working.
And it's rejected a 5th time. Not sure what else to do.
@jamie4012 Its probably because the new questions are not showing up for you. They wont show up for me either
I was tired of waiting and getting frustrated by Turbo Tax. So I filed today using H&R Block on line software. It was a breeze and my returns were accepted on the same day. I can't believe people were forced to try various workarounds in Turbo Tax.
If anyone is having issues with it populating Corona virus in item C instead of being blank and the others work arounds aren't working here is what I did to do to finally get it to work.
First I had to delete that I ever received a disaster distribution and go all the way through section with it that way to get the Form removed from my return. Then I went through the 1099-R section again but selected a different disaster and completed the section, then went back in and removed that disaster and left the box blank and paged back and selected the Corona virus box on the page where you input the amounts and completed the section. When I went to review the forms it finally wasn't in Item C and only showing in Item D.
The fact this form was pushed out by the IRS in early January and in 2 months TurboTax couldn't get it formatted correctly is pretty ridiculous. I also noticed on last years 8915 form it did the same thing but the IRS must have just not been paying attention or caring as that one never got rejected with it like that.
@CJ136 Im sorry but where do you guys see Item C and D? I don't see anything that says that
Thanks so much! Once I deleted those two forms, I was able to submit my tax returns
I finally figured it out today...after spending over an hour on the phone with Customer Support. It is a coding issue on form 8915-F Line C (1) populates with N/A. It needs to be blank. The only way I have figured out how to fix this is by deleting the Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr form (you may want to write down the numbers you currently have on your 8915-F or that are already filled out by TurboTax or you will need your 2021 8915-F form):
On the left menu go to Tax Tools > Tools > Delete a Form
Delete any form: Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr (I am married, so I deleted both of mine)
This should delete the 8915-F forms as well
Now...go back to Federal > Wages & Income > IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)
Go through and say Yes for the question on the disaster distribution. Complete answering the questions...you will need your 2021 8915-F form unless you remember the numbers.
Mine was accepted today!!!

I have done that exact thing at least 100 times the last few days. It hasn't worked for me. I don't know what else to do. Turbo Tax needs to get their stuff fixed. They told me 2 days ago that their programmers were working on the issue and it's still not fixed.
I couldn't take it anymore so I switched over to H&R Block. It worked great...no problems. My returns were accepted the same day. People shouldn't have to resort to work-around solutions.
I finally talked to a turbo tax agent earlier that knew what I was talking about when I told her what's going on with this. She told me the work around solution for the software issue but it didn't work for me. We did it together several times. I've tried it on Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge and Firefox. I've cleared the cache. I don't know why it's not working. Is anyone having the same issue or have any insight that may help? This is super frustrating. I don't know what else to do.
I switched over to H&R Block and it worked just fine... the first time. My returns were accepted the same day. I didn't want to wait any longer and get frustrated. Also, the cost to use this software was less than TurboTax. Crazy.
This supposed fix does not work. Tell people the truth. It does not work.
Did you delete Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr form? I tried deleting the 8915 and that didn't work, but when I deleted the Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr form and then answered the questions, it worked fine.
