Where in Turbo tax deluxe does it ask if any of your dependents will be filing federal taxes? it asked me this, I said no, but found out answer should have been yes.

The question you are referring to in TurboTax is not whether or not a dependent is filing a return, but specifically if one of your dependents is married will they be fling a joint return.  

You can find those questions in the "My Info" section by "Editing" a dependent.  You will be asked if they are married.  If you answer "Yes,"  a question will pop up asking if they will file a joint return.

As the taxpayer on your return you are asked if you can be claimed as a dependent on someone's return and if yes, then will you be claimed.  

The same will be true for any of your dependents that are filing returns.  As taxpayers on their own returns they will be asked if they are dependents and should answer "Yes" since they are your dependents.
